GTA 6: the six regions of Leonida to know before you play

Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, Mount Kalaga: what Rockstar says about the six regions of Leonida in GTA 6.

Leonida, a whole state to explore

GTA 6 takes place across the fictional state of Leonida, not in a single city. On its official "Only in Leonida" page, Rockstar Games presents six destinations: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, the Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park.

Each has its own mood, people and activities. This guide gathers what Rockstar has said and shown about them, region by region, so you can find your bearings before the game comes out on November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Vice City, the sun and fun capital

Vice City is Leonida's big city and the heart of Jason and Lucia's story. Rockstar calls it "the sun and fun capital of America", even though the '80s of the original Vice City are long gone.

The official page names several neighborhoods and spots: the pastel art deco hotels and white sands of Ocean Beach, the panaderías of Little Cuba, the bootleg brands of the Tisha-Wocka flea market, and the VC Port, billed as the cruise ship capital of the world.

Keep these names in mind: they will come up during missions and on our interactive map of Leonida, which we will expand once the game is out.

Leonida Keys, the tropical archipelago

The Leonida Keys are a tropical archipelago where, according to Rockstar, life isn't flashy but it's easy: pull up a deck chair and get your buzz on.

Rockstar also warns that you are on the doorstep of some of the most beautiful and dangerous waters in America. The official artwork shows scuba diving among coral and sea turtles, parties on boats, and a seaplane over islands linked by bridges.

It is also where Jason Duval lives, working for local drug runners according to his official profile.

Grassrivers, the gator-filled wetlands

The Grassrivers are a vast, wild expanse of wetlands and mangroves. Gators are the most famous attraction, but Rockstar says far deadlier predators and weirder discoveries lurk there.

The official artwork shows airboats among alligators, buildings on piers by the water, and even a police chase after a pickup truck right through the swamp.

Port Gellhorn, the faded beach resort

Port Gellhorn is a once-popular vacation spot in decline. Cheap motels, shut-down attractions and empty strip malls: according to Rockstar, none of it will bring the tourists back.

A new economy has taken over instead, fueled, in the official description, by malt liquor, painkillers and truck stop energy drinks. Rockstar suggests jumping on a dirt bike there, and holding onto your wallet.

Ambrosia, the industrial heartland

Ambrosia is the industrial region in the heart of Leonida. Rockstar describes it as a place where American industry and old-school values still reign supreme, whatever the cost.

The Allied Crystal sugar refinery provides the jobs, while the local biker gang provides almost everything else. The official artwork shows a motorcycle gang in leather vests out on the road, and a skyline bristling with smokestacks.

Mount Kalaga, the northern national park

Mount Kalaga National Park is Leonida's great wilderness, up against the state's northern border. Rockstar promises prime hunting, fishing and off-road trails there.

The surrounding backwoods are home, in the official description, to hillbilly mystics and paranoid radicals living far from the prying eyes of the government. The artwork shows mountain roads, kayaking under a bridge and a cougar stalking deer.

What we don't know yet

Rockstar has not released a full map of Leonida or the size of the open world. We also don't know how the regions will open up as the story unfolds, or whether the whole state will be accessible from the start.

We will update this guide as soon as the game is out. In the meantime, find the characters and factions in our encyclopedia, and follow GTA 6 Universe on X so you don't miss a thing.
