Rockstar reportedly tried to convince Daft Punk to reunite for the GTA 6 soundtrack, claims the hasitleaked account on X, as relayed by Dexerto FR. The duo allegedly said no. Neither Rockstar nor Daft Punk's representatives have confirmed it: this is a rumor.
What the rumor says
On October 19, hasitleaked claimed Rockstar had approached Daft Punk's camp about a musical collaboration. The studio allegedly asked Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo to get together one last time, with a budget described as “essentially unlimited.”
The goal would have been to get them on the game's soundtrack, five years after their 2021 split. Daft Punk allegedly declined, and Justice was reportedly Rockstar's second choice, according to the same account.
What is confirmed
What is confirmed is that Justice wrote “Flower in a Hurricane,” the track used in the launch trailer released on October 15, per Dexerto FR. More Justice compositions are expected to accompany the story of Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos.
Since the split, the two members of Daft Punk have mostly kept their legacy alive through reissues and special projects, without announcing a reunion, Dexerto FR notes.
What we don't know yet
Rockstar has not revealed its full soundtrack, so whether Daft Punk songs will appear on the in-game radio is unknown. Catch up on our latest GTA 6 news and follow GTA 6 Universe on X for what comes next.
